Hackers wreak havoc on holidays

Holidays may be prime time for hackers to attack computer systems.

Hundreds of companies came under cyberattacks on the eve of the July 4 holiday, when many people were thinking of anything but work.

The timing was important because IT staffing is general thin during holidays, said cyber security researcher Jake Williams, president of Rendition Infosec.

 “There’s zero doubt in my mind that the timing here was intentional,” he told the New York Times.
